Breaking the regional business mould
Market Creations has relocated to new premises on 7 Chapman Road, Geraldton in a move that marks a significant breaking of the mould for regional business premise design.
Geraldton based firm GBSC was the sole contractor responsible for delivering the striking designs from Scott Penn Hall Architecture + Interior Design. GBSC Managing Director Peter Fleay said the job had been really eye-opening to be involved in and a great showcase of the company’s skills in delivering modern construction solutions to a highly design oriented brief.
Previously occupied by the Commonwealth Bank, the building was completely gutted. The key aesthetic feature is the completely open-plan environment, with spacious workstations or ‘pods’ for each staff member; a superbly fitted out café on the second floor for staff breaks and ‘creative reflection’.
Market Creations Managing Director Darren Lee said the company sought a modern aesthetic for their new office, adopting an open plan approach to reflect a flat level of hierarchy across the organisation.
Internally the strong graphic design contrasts with a modernist black and white theme with subtle colour highlights from the hanging textured feature elements. Visible from the street, the “make a difference every day” slogan behind the reception desk is a constant reminder of the robust corporate culture instilled across the organisation’s 40-strong staff.
Darren Lee also project managed the 12-month project from concept through to completion. “This move marks a significant transition in the company’s 15 year history. This environment rivals that found in major design-focussed cities like Perth and Melbourne, and we are all looking forward with much enthusiasm to the next 15 years and beyond!” he said.
