The client knew they wanted something different – as to what that might look like, they had no idea where to start!
Knowing that it can be difficult to visualise what you want until you can compare it to something else, our client services team kicked off the design brief process by sharing examples of some of our previous work.
RoadWise could then identify aspects they liked and didn’t like and this acted as a springboard for developing the rest of the design brief.
The client pointed out the prominence of the latest news and events calendar features on the Shire of Dandaragan website and the primary objectives immediately became clear.
Our mission was to create a more useful and engaging resource for users and give them a reason to come back to the Roadwise website more frequently.
Old Website Design
New Website Design
The tabbed, combined feature stories, news and events area at the bottom of the page wasn’t working for RoadWise anymore. There were not enough stories being posted to warrant separating the news into two sections and the events weren’t getting enough attention.
We gave events their own area and moved the quick links to the bottom of the page. Users could now browse events via the calendar, or check out the next three upcoming events at a glance.
Latest news got a makeover – we added a space for an image and kept the text area brief with the option to click for more information.
We also added an image gallery where photos from RoadWise events and initiatives could be shared and moved the social media icons to the top of the website to encourage more interaction.
The result – success on first attempt! The client was so rapt with the design concept we sent through that they had NO requested changes – the best compliment you can possibly receive.
