The Design

The website's visual identity draws inspiration from the Shire's logo, using a rich wine and gold colour palette to create a timeless and welcoming aesthetic. Subtle corndolly-inspired design elements have been incorporated throughout the site as a nod to one of Koorda's most recognisable symbols.

The homepage has been carefully structured to showcase the best of the community, with prominent quick links providing easy access to popular content including the Koorda Drive-In Theatre, accommodation options and local employment opportunities. An engaging "About Koorda" section combines community imagery with a snapshot of the town's history, pioneering spirit and regional charm.

Navigation & Accessibility

Accessibility and usability were key priorities throughout the project. The website includes built-in accessibility controls and a UserWay integration, enabling visitors to access advanced tools such as screen readers, contrast adjustments, text resizing, link highlighting and more.

To improve navigation, the site introduces a new Mega Menu that makes it easier to browse services and information across the website. This is complemented by a prominent search function positioned within the opening fold, along with quick access links to the Shire's most visited pages.

Dynamic Content

To keep the website engaging and up to date, a range of dynamic content features have been incorporated throughout the homepage.

A social media feed automatically displays the latest updates from the Shire's Facebook page, while rotating image galleries showcase the people, places and landscapes that make Koorda unique. Visitors can switch between the latest news and upcoming events through an interactive content section, while dedicated community information panels highlight upcoming Council meetings and promote key community facilities and services.

The Outcome

The result is a modern, accessible and community-focused website that successfully balances tourism promotion with essential local government information.
