About the client

Situated 1,270 kilometres north of Perth, The Shire of Exmouth is on the tip of the North West Cape in Western Australia. It is bordered by the Exmouth Gulf and the pristine Ningaloo Coast World Heritage area. Exmouth has a rich history as a town that was founded around defence industries. Today, it is a thriving holiday destination with a fast-growing eco-tourism sector. Exmouth offers truly unique encounters, such as Whale Shark tours, as one of the few areas in Australia that can boast the reef to range experience.

The Brief

The Shire of Exmouth wanted to refresh their corporate website to better reflect their beautiful coastal region, improve their site’s functionality and develop a better resource for connecting with the community. They also wanted to connect their corporate website to the Ningaloo Centre, keeping in mind the differing purposes of the platforms and showcasing their separate offerings.

Council Meetings Module

The Council Meetings module was implemented to help the Shire manage the promotion and publication of council meetings and associated documentation online.

Multi-Site Web Solution

Market Creations Agency then worked with the Shire on a multi-site for their major tourism offering – Ningaloo Centre. The Ningaloo Centre is a state-of-the-art research, education, tourism, and community hub. It is also home to the Ningaloo Aquarium and discovery centre. The landmark building is host to first-class conference and community spaces and has fast become a must-see attraction for the region.

The Outcome

Working closely with the Shire, Market Creations Agency developed a new website that showcased the beauty of the resort town with the help of a dynamic image rotator and high-quality imagery. Website visitors can easily stay up to date with Shire activities via the News, Events, and Social Media feed housed on the home page. As a multi-site to the Shire of Exmouth’s corporate site, the Ningaloo Centre is hosted on the same platform but features a completely unique design. Bold brand elements and vibrant imagery highlight the essence of the destination, and Additional Page Templates have been used to ensure each area of the Centre is represented.

Users can fully immerse themselves in the ‘Ningaloo experience’ and easily find information on tours, accommodation, and events without the distraction of Shire news. The website’s live Instagram feed showcases images captured by visitors to the area, acting as a visual testimonial.
