That's #SoKal

Throughout the second half of 2025, Market Creations Agency delivered a massive multi-channel workforce attraction campaign on behalf of the Kalgoorlie Boulder Chamber of Commerce. Branded #SoKal, the campaign was built around authentic storytelling, with more than a dozen local success stories filmed to form the foundation of its narrative. These stories showcased real people who had made the move to Kalgoorlie and discovered a new home - one where opportunity and career progression come without sacrificing a healthy work-life balance.

Campaign Plan and Setup

The campaign launched in August 2025, beginning with the design and development of the #SoKal logo and brand identity, complete with a style guide and supporting marketing materials such as pull-up banners. A dedicated website, www.sokal.com.au, was also created to serve as the campaign hub.

Working closely with the KBCCI, Market Creations Agency developed a comprehensive campaign strategy that included a sponsorship prospectus and advertising materials aimed at attracting local employers and KBCCI members to support the initiative. The Chamber committed to dollar-match contributions for the first $100,000, which generated strong interest and backing from the local business community even before the campaign officially launched. This early momentum allowed us to hit the ground running and deliver impactful results focused on positioning Kalgoorlie as a desirable place to work and live.

The #SoKal Website

A cornerstone of the campaign was the development of the #SoKal website. Market Creations Agency delivered a standout web presence in just two months, featuring local stories, integrated social feeds, campaign imagery and videos, and most importantly, a fully functional jobs board. This platform enabled campaign supporters to list job opportunities, accept applications directly, or link to their preferred recruitment systems. Prospective employees could browse jobs in both grid and list views. Within the first six months, hundreds of jobs were posted, driving significant engagement and interest from individuals considering a move to the region.

Campaign Execution – Digital

To build awareness of the new workforce attraction brand, Market Creations Agency implemented a concentrated digital marketing strategy. We partnered with SoCo Studios to produce authentic video testimonials, traveling to Kalgoorlie multiple times to capture real stories of people who had relocated and thrived. These videos became the centerpiece of the digital campaign, shared across social media, featured on the #SoKal website, and broadcast via local and statewide TV commercials. Written versions of these testimonials supported editorial content, while photography assets were leveraged across a wide range of paid digital advertising formats.

Campaign Execution – Traditional

Reaching a Perth audience was critical to the campaign’s success, so Market Creations Agency coordinated and designed high-impact advertising placements, including bus wraps in the Perth CBD, signage at Perth Airport, and digital billboards in high-traffic metropolitan locations. Additional touchpoints included car decals for Chamber staff, branded beer coasters for local venues, and newspaper ads in prominent positions within The West Australian. Radio advertising further amplified the campaign message, ensuring broad coverage across multiple channels.
